The Wanted Tackle Boy Bands Past In ‘Walks Like Rihanna’

After the release of the Wanted‘s new video “Walks Like Rihanna,” it’s still unclear what exactly is behind the enchanting “Rihanna” strut. But the modern boy band does give a clear walk down memory lane, through iconic videos of boy bands past.

For their latest effort, the lads spoof ‘NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” and British boy band Take That’s “Back For Good.”

While Tom Parker gets himself all wet over their hot girl “director” of the video (the other guys go a bit mad as well — have they not been allowed to see women while filming their reality TV show for E!?), Max George, Jay McGuinness and Nathan Sykes propose the boy band concepts, which are all shot down by their director.

The video’s director is given ample opportunity to prove she can’t sing or dance, as the lyrics say, but in the final warehouse scene she returns to show us she’s got a caboose like Rihanna. And it is on full display.

With this video, the Wanted are certainly putting the “boy” in boy band.

Fun fact: Tom was actually in a Take That cover band for a time in the UK. Watch him talk about it in our episode of What’s That Song.
